Pushed Out

Amy Tigerman, a second grade teacher in San Francisco, believes that the district is losing teachers due to the wages not increasing in proportion with the cost of living increases that have occurred in the city. She has experienced rent increases every year and says she is now paying out about 50% of her salary for rent. Like many residents of San Francisco, as cost of living continues to increase, she may be forced to pack up her family and leave a job and home she loves simply because she cannot afford it anymore.
