The first day of school… is fun?
Some fun outtakes from following a little kindergartner around on her first day of school.
Thought I’d post a few photos from various stories that have run lately. More to come!
I went to cover Circus Camp this week here in Victoria. I’ve covered ‘circus’ camps before and they were never this elaborate or well, lets just say it, awesome. Kids were walking on stilts, teetering on tightropes, zooming about on mini-bikes, juggling scarves and dressing up however they wished. It was a kid’s dream experience. The whole time I was there I couldn’t help but wish I wasn’t too old to attend Circus Camp too.
I asked the Advocate a few months ago if they’d give me a few days to cover the Warriors Weekend this year and they agreed. Warriors Weekend is an event organized by Victorians. It is a weekend full of fishing, food, ceremonies and fun for wounded soldiers from all over the USA. Over 300 wounded soldiers are being flown in yesterday and today to Houston and San Antonio. We’re going to have a big spread this Sunday but we are putting a few teasers in the paper before that for individual aspects of this event.
One of those is a salute the Boy Scouts did Wednesday at the Field of Honor. Today the soldiers will be at the field of honor for a ceremony I’ll be at later, but on Thursday the Boy Scouts stood at attention at the field as a gesture of respect for those coming this weekend. Heres a couple photos from it. More later!
