Before this weekend I had heard quite a bit about the Boilermaker. I knew that 14,000 people had signed up to run, many of them from all over the world. I knew we’d have multiple places we have to be throughout the day, starting at 6am, to cover. Our whole staff was assigned different points along the 15k race route, start to finish, so we covered every neighborhood involved. Everyone kept saying how stressful and long this day was going to be, but really, these are the kind of days I like. When you get to really do your job and cover something important to the community. Sure it was a lot of walking and a lot of memory cards and a lot of people and more hours than usual, but it was also a lot of fun. I really enjoyed talking to people all day, hearing why this race is important to them, why they came from New Zealand or Kenya or Columbia or just California. It was a really good time. I covered the 3-6 mile route at the golf course and then the after party. Here are a few of my favorites.
Thought I’d post a few photos from various stories that have run lately. More to come!
This first pup photo ran on the front page on Monday, which I think is the cutest front page we’ve ever had!
