The famous ‘Kissing Sailor’ from the 1945 photo visited Victoria for the Warriors Muster, an event to earn money towards giving wounded Soldiers a day of fun, fishing and camaraderie. Warriors Weekend is open to all soldiers who have served and want to participate. They are flown in from all over the country for free and given a day of fishing, bbq and general merriment. This year 30+ former soldiers have signed up already, which will cost something in the range of $20,000 just to fly and transport them to the location of the event which will happen later in May. The Warriors Muster is a large fundraiser that raises the money for this event every year. This year the Kissing Soldier, also known as Glenn McDuffie, visited and auctioned off a signed print of the famous photo as part of the live auction.
