I did a portrait of Mary Hackett for today’s paper, we only ran one but I had quite a few favorites so I wanted to post a few of them.
The one we ran (which i picked for the expression and I felt it was the best fit for the story) :
Mary E. Hackett speaks about her and her husband Marion A. Hackett's involvement with the NAACP during the civil rights movement at her home Friday. She has been a member for 73 years, since she was 5-years-old. She said Martin Luther King Jr. and the NAACP had the same goals but they tried to achieve them through different means. "We worked with the NAACP because we wanted to achieve equal rights within the frame of the law, not through civil disobedience." KATHLEEN DUNCAN / KDUNCAN@VICAD.COM
