Visual journalist, editor and innovator

Kat Duncan is the Director of Innovation at the Reynolds Journalism Institute. She leads RJI’s Innovation Team and their innovative projects, programs and initiatives. She founded the Women in Journalism Workshop, leads the RJI Fellowship Program, Student Fellowship Program, Nationwide Student Innovation Competition and produces the web series Innovation in Focus. She presents and leads sessions on innovation in journalism at conferences, workshops and classrooms nationwide. She also teaches Photojournalism at the Missouri School of Journalism.

Duncan was previously a Photo Editor & Videographer at The San Francisco Chronicle, Visuals Editor & Interim Digital Editor at The Standard-Examiner and the Photo & Video Editor at The Victoria Advocate. She also worked in photo positions at The Utica Observer-Dispatch in New York, The Hutchinson News in Kansas, and The Daily Hampshire Gazette in Massachusetts.

Outside of work she enjoys traveling, exploring indie bookstores and frolicking with her adorable pups Panda and Winston.
