The Mitzvah Cable Car provides a place for prayer on Market St. in downtown San Francisco four days a week.

“People aren’t in the synagogues, they’re in the market and in the streets — you have to go where the people are,” the elder Langer said. “They walk by and see Jews shaking and baking and they stop to take photos or join us. They love the cable car.”

The father-son duo calls the daily mincha services an “afternoon spiritual espresso” where Jews can come to pray, rejuvenate themselves and connect with the community. Read more here.
